Casablanca is a commercial center of Morocco, tourists easily pass by this place, but if you have just a day, you’ll have a chance to understand how attractive this city is! Here we’re taking you to one day trip in Casablanca!
1) Pickup at your hotel or airport, railway station
If you arrive late at night by flight or train, stay overnight in Casablanca. This is not a place for riads, but you’ll find out old-fashioned European style hotels which is one of the typical things in Morocco.
2) Visit Hassan II Mosque
Generally, mosques in Morocco are not open to non Muslims, maybe this is the only chance for you to see the solemn inside of a mosque. Hassan II is father of the current king, Mohammed VI, Hassan II built the biggest mosque in Morocco, and its minaret is actually the highest in the world!
Not only its size, Hassan II Mosque is renown for its beautiful artworks. This fountain repeatedly appears in books and websites, as a symbol of Morocco.
3) Drive through the city
Casablanca means “White House” in Spanish and as it suggests, many of the buildings are white here. Good contrast to red buildings in Marrakech.
4) Visit Old Medina along the United Nations Square
The central square is call The United Nations Square (Place des Nations Unies), easy to identify with this red hemisphere monument. This is one of the busiest places in Casablanca, the entrance of the old medina faces this square.
5) Head for Aid Diab
Ain Diab is originally a quiet seaside area, and lately it’s getting busier with new restaurants and night clubs. Young Moroccans get together here, you’ll see the most updated life of this country.

Morocco Mall is so far the biggest shopping mall in North Africa. We recommend Marjane here, a popular supermarket in Morocco. You’ll find argan oil, black olive soap, and tajine pots (!), generally with lower prices than souks in medina.
6) Transfer back hotel, or airport, railway station
If you arrive earlier in Casablanca Airport, spend your time strolling around the shops inside the airport. They have more shops now, which are improving, local crafts are also available with reasonable prices.
